This page provides an overview of the programme’s progress, key milestones, and events since its launch in 2025.
Tulanet PostdocDay2026 will take place in Helsinki on 1 October 2026. The event will focus on the Finnish RDI ecosystem. Together with speakers from the public, private and third sectors, we will explore the different roles and opportunities within the ecosystem and discuss how researchers can navigate it. The day will also offer postdocs in the Programme a chance to network, exchange ideas and make new connections.
The second kick-off event brought together postdocs who joined the programme at a later stage. Programme Director Johanna Buchert highlighted the importance of combining scientific excellence with tangible societal impact. Achieving this requires close collaboration between research organisations, companies and public administration. See Johanna’s presentation here. The event offered an opportunity to connect through speed networking, alongside a panel discussion exploring different career paths.

Short summaries of almost all postdoctoral projects are now available on the website, showcasing a wide range of timely and societally relevant research. You can explore the researchers and their work, and we encourage you to get in touch if you find topics of shared interest.

The first programme report brings together key insights from the recruitment phase. By the end of 2025, a total of 76 postdoctoral researchers had been recruited, out of the planned 85 positions. The positions have so far attracted more than 3,700 applications from Finland and internationally.

The first kick-off event brought together postdocs and their supervisors to connect and build a shared understanding of the programme’s goals. Participants also gained insights from speakers with diverse career backgrounds.

By the end of April 2025, the first 36 postdoctoral researchers had been recruited from over 1,800 applicants. Around half of them relocated to Finland from abroad. Their work addresses topics that are highly relevant for both society and business.
