The aim of my research project is to examine how biological and physiological aspects of women’s health interact with working conditions and life outside work, shaping health, work ability, and work careers.
The project explores how life stages and health-related factors, together with working conditions, predict work ability and career continuity among women.
The study is based on longitudinal survey data from the Finnish public sector (FPS), linked with national register data on prescription medication purchases, sickness absence, exits from employer service, and retirement. This combined data infrastructure enables the examination of dynamic health, work, and career processes across the life course using both subjective and objective indicators.
The research supports the development of sex-sensitive work ability management and contributes to workforce retention, reduced sickness absence, and sustainable work careers in female-dominated sectors across the life course.
