The main objective of this research is to study and facilitate the adoption of sustainable lifestyles, with a particular focus on health-related behaviors such as physical activity.
While the health benefits of physical activity are well established, its sustainability dimensions have previously received less attention compared to other healthy lifestyle behaviors, such as diet. This research addresses this gap by examining how different forms of physical activity can contribute simultaneously to climate change mitigation and adaptation, environmental sustainability, and human well-being.
The work spans multiple research lines, including the development and implementation of environmentally, socially and economically sustainable interventions, and applies the planetary health framework to study physical activity modes that support both ecosystem and population health.
