Reimagining AI-driven Workplace Datafication in the Game Industry – REWODAI

Matti Laukkarinen
Finnish Institute of Occupational Health

AI-driven workplace datafication increasingly shapes how work is carried out, how it is valued, and how everyday working life is experienced.

The REWODAI project examines how the expanding use of artificial intelligence and digital systems is shaping working conditions in the game development industry. By combining qualitative research with collaborative development, REWODAI seeks to identify ways data and AI can support creative work and professional expertise while fostering healthier, safer working conditions. The project pursues two interrelated objectives: 1) examine how AI-driven workplace datafication reshapes working conditions in the game development industry, with particular attention to creative labor, fairness, and occupational health and safety; and 2) explore how AI-driven workplace datafication can help improve working conditions by developing worker-centric models, governance principles, and practical recommendations for engaging with workplace data and AI systems.
