Long-Term Stability of Wearable Enzymatic Sensors

Pulak Bhushan
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.

This research aims to enhance the long-term stability and reliability of wearable enzymatic sensors – lactate as a model analyte.

By improving sensor performance over extended use, it addresses challenges in healthcare, sports, and personal wellness. Stable lactate sensors can aid in real-time monitoring of conditions like lactic acidosis, optimize athletic performance, and provide more accurate fitness tracking, thus reducing healthcare costs and promoting proactive health management. The research combines sensor engineering, and electrochemistry to develop durable sensor components. Data is gathered through lab testing for sensor durability and field trials with human subjects to validate performance in real-world conditions.
