Human-Guided, AI-Assisted Research and Policy Analysis

Annika Lehmus-Sun
Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare

This research develops a human-guided approach to using artificial intelligence in research and policy analysis.

Its main objective is to understand how generative AI can enhance knowledge work while maintaining human oversight, critical thinking, and responsibility.

The project addresses challenges related to the rapid adoption of AI, such as over-reliance and risks to analytical quality. It aims to provide practical ways to use AI so that it supports, rather than replaces, human expertise.

The research is based on iterative development and real-world experimentation in tasks such as analysis and writing, resulting in a practical and evolving framework for responsible AI use.
