The main objective is to determine how to implement the information on harmful substances into the national food composition database.
The challenges are to determine which data are suitable, what format the information on harmful substances must be included in to be in a scientifically valid manner, and how the information can be presented in a way that is easily accessible to different user groups. This requires the development of entirely new implementation models.
Integrated data enhances food safety and public health by supporting more accurate risk assessments. Combining information on harmful substances with composition data is of interest to stakeholders that maintain and use composition databases internationally. Very little such integration has been done so far, so new operating models must be developed for this work. Cooperation with national and international composition databases and authority networks is required for the success of the task.
