Client and service paths in open care services of child welfare system (APLA)

Laura Häkkilä
Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare

The first objective is to use the register data to find out the client and service paths through which children, young people and their families pass before and during open care service before out-of-home placement.

Further, the second objective is to obtain clarity on the joint use of open care services and children’s mental health and psychiatry services. Research will respond to a large research need, because not enough research data has been produced from child welfare open care, and no register data for social services has previously been available. In addition, no national studies have been conducted on the join use of open care services and children’s mental health and psychiatry services. I use different quantitative methods. I combine Social Welfare Data Register with the mental health and psychiatric services register data (Hilmo and Avohilmo) and Child Welfare Data Register. In addition, macro level indicators from Sotkanet indicator bank will be combined with the data.

Progress

Great start for the Programme! The first 36 postdoctoral researchers have been recruited and started their work. Half of them relocated to Finland from abroad.
