The co-occurrence of two or more non-communicable conditions (multimorbidity) in an individual represents a major public health challenge in ageing societies.
This study aims to identify the most burdensome disease combinations from both societal and individual perspectives within the Finnish adult population. By generating new knowledge, the study seeks to improve opportunities for cost-effective prevention of multimorbidity in the future.
The study examines the prevalence and risk factors of multimorbidity, its consequences, and projected future scenarios in the Finnish adult population. The analyses are based on population-based health survey data linked with national health register data.
